First Person Arts is rooted in the notion that the simple act of sharing stories allows us to express our individuality, celebrate our diversity, and forge bonds of community. This compelling idea has brought together a community of artists, audiences, and volunteers from all walks of life who meet on the common ground of real life experience. It has inspired unique programs, like our monthly StorySlams and Salons, and our annual Festival of Memoir and Documentary Art. It sustains our national competitions, staffs our courses and workshops, fills our artists’ residencies, and enables us to undertake one-of-a-kind projects like this year’s Complaint Choir. By becoming a member of First Person Arts, you are joining this creative community and making a commitment to support and secure its future.

What membership does for all of us:

Your support is crucial, since admission to our events contributes less than 25% to the cost of producing them. Your membership helps defray the costs of the behind-the-scenes work of producing our events. It helps us build a prestigious roster of instructors, artists and jurors who attract people from all over the country to participate in our programs, workshops and competitions. It allows us to showcase promising new talent and offer free training to those with little or no previous artistic experience.

What membership does for you:

You will receive special invitations to cool members-only events and be listed on our website with a link to your website or blog. Plus, you will receive free passes to scheduled First Person Arts events, based on your membership level.
