September 10th: First Person Salon at the Gershman Y

Thursday August 28th, 2008

On September 10th from 7-9pm at the Gershman Y (401 S. Broad St.), First Person Arts will present the second-to-last Salon of 2008.   Angel Hogan will read a memoir and show a short film about her life as an adoptee.   Robert Wright will present several works of autobiographical poetry.  Andrew Schwalm and Shannon Kane-Meddock will screen Hooked: Philly's Urban Anglers, a short documentary about fishing in Philadelphia.  And the evening will close out with comedy-from-real-life by Steve Gerben and Pat Barker

This will be the last Salon before the Salon du Festivale, on Thursday November 13, part of the First Person Festival of Memoir and Documentary Art at the Painted Bride Art Center!

Our 2008 Festival schedule will be coming out in full soon, but we're ready to tell you about these two programs already:

Crazy Sexy Cancer

Philly Complaint Choir

And don't forget, our Fall Classes and Workshops are enrolling now

First Person Arts was recently awarded a Philadelphia City Paper Choice Award for the ”Festival Most Likely to Trump Fringe in the Coming Years”.  We love the Fringe and feel sure there is room for all of us in Philadelphia’s vibrant arts community – but we love to be loved, too.  Thanks City Paper!
